Shira Rothman, Coles Hillel Director, Metro AtlantaCampuses
Hello there GSU Hillel! My name is Shira Rothman and I am so excited to be your new Hillel Director for this upcoming year! I’ve been working hard all summer with student leadership to make sure that we continue having excellent programs and lots of fun at Hillel. A little bit about myself…I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina (I’m a Tarheels fan!) and went to school at Tulane in New Orleans. New Orleans is my absolute favorite city in the world and I love to go back and visit. Before moving to Atlanta I lived in Boston and worked for the Federation’s Young Leadership Division, which is basically doing Jewish events and programs for people in their 20’s and 30’s. I moved to Atlanta in 2009 when I started as the Hillel Director at Georgia Tech and have enjoyed working with college students to do informal Jewish education. I love to travel, I prefer the beach to the mountains, I like dogs more than cats, and I have a secret obsession with Jewish pop music parodies. Please feel free to email me or call me anytime if you have questions, thoughts, or concerns!
Rocky Strazynski, GSU Jewish Life Coordinator
Hi! I’m Rocky Strazynski and I’m the new Jewish Life Coordinator for GSU. I’m so excited to start a new year with you guys! I’m originally from Atlanta and I love it here in Georgia. I lived in Israel for quite a few years and I’m about as Zionistic as they come. My favorite place to be is in the woods here in Georgia either camping, hiking, or doing survival stuff but I wouldn’t turn down an adventure in any other climate and that includes on campus. I like a good conversation and debating about the things that I’m passionate about. I love country music but my all-time favorite band is 3 Doors Down. My favorite food by far is a good shawarma packed with “charif” (hot sauce), and my dog Zoe doesn’t mind it either. I’m looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you, and I think we are going to have an amazing year.
